Newmarket 2000 Guineas
The 2000 Guineas is a Group 1 flat race which is run at Newmarket on the Rowley Mile course. The current sponsor is Quipco.

The 2000 Guineas is open to is open to three year old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run at Newmarket over a distance of 1 mile.
Newmarket 2000 Guineas – Statistics and Trends
These trends have been identified through an analysis of the previous twelve years of the race:
Age – Only 3-year-olds are eligible to run.
Betting Market – Market position can provide some insight into a horse’s likelihood of winning the race. Of the last 12 winners, 5 were favourites, while 8 out of 12 winners were among the top three in the betting. Starting price of the winner has ranged from 1/2 to 40/1 but 8 of the winners were 11/2 or less.
Last Run – A horse’s performance in their last run can be a good predictor of their form going into the 2000 Guineas. In the past 12 years, 11 of the winners won their last run before the race, the other was second, 9 of the winners had their last run over 189 days ago and the other 3 had run within 25 days.
Previous Course Form – Previous experience on the course can be an advantage in the 2000 Guineas. 7 of the last 12 winners had at least 1 previous run at Newmarket, and 4 of the winners had at least 1 previous win at the course.
Previous Distance Form – Similarly, previous experience over the distance of the race can be a useful indicator. 7 of the last 12 winners had at least 1 previous run over 8 furlongs, and 6 of the winners had at least 1 previous win over the same distance. No winner has ever run over further than a mile and 11 of the 12 winners have won at a maximum distance of 7 furlongs (5) or a mile (6).
Previous Flat Form – A strong track record in previous flat races can also be a good sign. All of the past 12 winners had at least 2 previous flat wins, 11 of the winners had at least 3 previous flat runs, and all of the winners had at between 2 and 6 previous flat runs.
Official Rating – All of the past 12 winners had an official rating of 109 or higher.
Group Wins – 11 of the past 12 winners had at least 1 win in a group 1-3 race, and 8 of the winners had at least 1 previous win in a group 1 race.
Season Form – 3 of the last 12 winners had at least 1 run that season, and 2 of the winners had a previous win that season.
Draw – The stall number of the winners over the last 12 years have spread across the track from 1 to 17, however 8 of the winners were drawn 9 or less.
Headgear – All 12 winners have been without headgear.
OSR Ratings – 8 of the winners from the last 12 years have been ranked in the top 4 on OSR, 11 of the 12 winners have been ranked in the top 5 on LR with 6 of them being top on LR.
