1.50 NewmarketPILGRIM 17/2Soft ground winner at York when last seen but has shown some good form on a quicker surface. Handicap debut on what looks a good mark from a fair draw.

3.00 Newmarket SHOULDVEBEENARING 4/1Sets a good standard in this bringing Group 1 form to the table, MARSHMAN is likely to give him the most to do.
3.35 NewmarketEBEN SHADDAD 11/4Skewed by the fact the French horse has no ratings, a chance is taken on the Dewhurst third EBEN SHADDAD who is a consensus method qualifier and could be something special.2ND

1.50 NewmarketSIGNIFICANTLY 8/1Ayr Gold Cup win last season was the meat in the sandwich between two fine seconds in other heritage handicaps. Revised handicap mark is fair and he will give it a good go.8th
2.05 CheltenhamTITAN DISCOVERY 13/2Only out of the first 2 once in his career , 2 wins and 2 seconds since going handicap hurdling, further improvement anticipated on this faster going.6th
2.25 NewmarketNATIVE AMERICAN 6/1Good wins on first 2 starts and not disgraced in Group 1 company in France last time, won’t be far away if staying this trip and there is stamina on his sires side of the family tree.
2.40 CheltenhamFINAL ORDERS 10/1Not suited by soft ground last twice that is why he sidestepped the Festival but the way the going has dried out he has excellent claims in a wide open race.6th
3.00 NewmarketROYAL RHYME 4/1

Productive last season with 3 wins including a Listed event, led for much of the race in the Group 1 middle distance race on Champions Day so is entitled to a crack at this.

Cambridgeshire winner who is not out of place in this company, each way claims
3.35 NewmarketMATRIKA 7/2A true classic trial and while the unbeaten Godolphin filly DANCE SEQUENCE will be popular, my money is on the Group 2 winning MATRIKA who tops 3 of our 4 ratings.

3.15 KemptonAQWAAM 9/1Consistent in 9 runs since September with 3 wins and 4 seconds, looked good when winning over this trip at Wolverhampton last time, the handicapper may not have caught up with him yet.7TH
3.30 ChelmsfordCAPULET 5/65 today within 50 of top OSR, CUBAN TIGER at the top is respected, he holds ORNE on their recent meeting, but Irish raider CAPULET who was placed in a pair of Group 2’s and has a good book of entries probably has the class to take this going away.3RD
3.45 KemptonLES BLEUS 13/2I don’t want to put anyone off DEVOTED QUEEN and if the market is right she will win going away, hover the value lies with LES BLEUS who ran well in a handful of Group races las term and breeding sugests she will be better at 3.4TH

3.15 NewburyEL ELEFANTE 15/2Did just enough to win at Ayr last time and is likely to progress further.
3.35 DoncasterTHE GATEKEEPER 10/1This cavalry charge is always a competitive affair and this year is no different just 45 points cover the top 16 (of 21) on OSR. THE GATEKEEPER is my first choice a good winner of the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot when last seen and gets his favoured soft going, another with a good chance is LIBERTY LANE who is a CD winner and will appreciate the going. An honouree mention for DUTCH DECOY who I have a small share in, he did us proud last season and high hopes for him again, he probably needs this race and could do with the ground drying out, I will have my token bet on him as an owner but I will leave it up to you to make your own decision.

3.00 UttoxeterMY SILVER LINING 5/150 points separate the top 8 on OSR in this 12 runner race. MY SILVER LINING is improving with every run, 3 wins and 3 seconds in last 6 races, Grade 3 second inthe Haydock Grand National trial last time and will relish this extra distance today. BEAUPORT is also of interest.3RD

3.35 UttoxeterTHE CHANGING MAN 4/1My original pick for this race was MARSH WREN now a non-runner so we turn to THE CHANGING MAN who was second to Stay Away Fay in November before a couple of runs in Grade 2 company, beaten favourite last time but ran well enough before a bad mistake at the 14th fence cost him all chance. Won’t be far away with a clear round. 2ND

2.50 KelsoBLACK HAWK EAGLE 5/1Good race and if a horse can win this and go on to win at Cheltenham there is a £100,000 bonus for connections. Too much racing today to go into the ins and outs but BLACK HAWK EAGLE is the selection

3.35 AscotALTOBELLI 100/30Wide wide open race where the top 6 on OSR are only separated by 48 points, the winner should come from that pool. The lightly race 5 year old ALTOBELLI gets my vote, winner of a bumper and 2 hurdles in his 5 starts and looked smart on reappearance when second over course and distance.3RD

1.15 CheltenhamCALICO 7/2Enjoyed a decent novice season over fences with a couple of wins, 2 of his defeats were in top company at the hands (or hooves) of JONBON. Pleasing return when going close here last month, should improve for the run.

Not a race notable for weight carrying exploits so I have gone down the handicap a bit and my 3 against the field are ANGELS BREATH, HARPERS BROOK and TORN AND FRAYED, with the latter having a long absence to overcome and the middle one noted for coming off the bridle at crucial times, its the lightly raced ANGELS BREATH who gets the vote, fit from a recent spin out over hurdles he is fairly handicapped on return to chasing.

3.40 NewmarketDUTCH DECOY 28/1We have enjoyed a good season with DUTCH DECOY he has been the Little Earner a few times and bagged us some returns, can be forgiven his last run as the going was against him and the jockey never allowed him enough cover. 3.20 LeopardstownAFLAILA 5/1Possibly the top 5 on OSR have a squeak in this but a lot depends on whether Auguste Rodin has recovered from whatever ailed him when tailed off last time. 2.50GUARD YOUR DREAMS 30/1With 11 of the last 12 winners of this race at 9/1 or higher we have the chance of a decent priced winner, while FIRST STREET, BLACK BAMBOO, RAMBO T and SHANBERRY KID all have claims, it is GUARD YOUR DREAMS for me this course winner had 22 months off and has had 2 runs at the minimum trip to prove his fitness to connections, should run a but race now at a more suitable distance off a very fair handicap mark.18TH (SHANBILLY KID 12/1 3RD, BLACK MAMBOO 14/1 6th (S) RAMBO T 33/1 8TH (S))

2.50VICTTORINO 16/1Dual Ascot Grade 3 winner in November and December, and would have been a lot closer than fourth back there last time but for a couple of tardy jumps and been bumped by a rival. 3.30STATE MAN 4/11With no Constitution Hill and Lossiemouth diverted to the Mares this looks a penalty kick for STATE MANWON 2/5
4.10MARIES ROCK 14/1LOSSIEMOUTH will be popular and I wouldn’t put anyone off her but she would have been more suited to 2 miles and is not guaranteed to stay (if she does she wins), plus 4/6 is no value. One that has stamina in spades is the 2022 winner of this race MARIES ROCK she won over 3 miles at Doncaster last time after a year without a win and that will have set her up for another crack at this.PU (LOSSIEMOUTH 8/13 Won)
4.50EAGLE FANG 16/1I have a soft spot for this race after finding the 80/1 winner Jeff Kidder in 2021. EAGLE FANG was Grade 3 placed in December but the bit of form that stands out is his win at Naas last time was in the race that has produced 4 of the last 5 winners and 3 of them won it.12th
5.30EMBASSY GARDENS 2/1Better chaser than he ever was over hurdles, now 2 from 2 over fences including an easy Grade 3 romp last time, sets a pretty good standard and can give the Mullins team another win.2ND
