2.20 Cheltenham | ANGELS BREATH 8/1 | A real puzzle this one. Not a race notable for weight carrying exploits so I have gone down the handicap a bit and my 3 against the field are ANGELS BREATH, HARPERS BROOK and TORN AND FRAYED, with the latter having a long absence to overcome and the middle one noted for coming off the bridle at crucial times, its the lightly raced ANGELS BREATH who gets the vote, fit from a recent spin out over hurdles he is fairly handicapped on return to chasing.

8.00 Chelmsford | MOONSPIRIT 3/1 | Winning Nap for us 4 weeks ago over course and distance when making most of the running and looking like she had plenty in reserve 5lb rise in the handicap shouldn’t prevent further improvement. | WON 5/1 |

21/10
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb

1.30 Newmarket | RED DANIELLE 13/2 | 11 length winner of a Yarmouth novice at long odds on last time, this is tougher but initial handicap mark looks fair and she is expected to be involved. | NR |
2.25 Ascot | AL AASY 5/4 | Sets a good standard and comes here in good form after wins this summer at Newbury and Haydock and a closing second at Leopardstown last time. Should get a good tow into the race. | 5TH |
2.45 Redcar | ACTION POINT 8/1 | DRAGON LEADER looks a good thing but where is the value? ACTION POINT may be penalised for his Listed win but he has been running well in Group races since and is progressive enough to shoulder the burden. | 3RD |

2.25 Newmarket | SACRED ANGEL 5/1 | This race has cut up with Relief Rally now a non-runner and she looked a good thing. SACRED ANGEL won well at Sandown and improved again to land a Group 3 at Ascot, the going was against her last time in France, no such worries today she can make all. | 3RD |
2.45 Market Rasen | MAX OF STARS 7/2 | Three time winner over hurdles including a comfortable 14 length romp last time, can serve it up to the favourite OUR BOY WES | WON |
3.40 Newmarket | DUTCH DECOY 28/1 | We have enjoyed a good season with DUTCH DECOY he has been the Little Earner a few times and bagged us some returns, can be forgiven his last run as the going was against him and the jockey never allowed him enough cover. Last win came on the July course here in July and he ran on for seventh in this race last year. Expect another bold show on ground he loves and take any extra places that are on offer. | 6TH (S) |
5.02 Haydock | GONE ROGUE 100/30 | A bit green when upped to this trip last time but battled on well to win and should progress for the run. | WON 9/2 |

1.30 Newbury | RAASEL 5/2 | In the form of his life and will have no problem with the conditions. | 5th |
2.10 Listowel | HIGH CLASS HERO 11/8 | Inexperience told when running and jumping left on hurdle debut but he still won beating a useful horse and completing a P2P, bumper, hurdle treble. Likely to have learned a lot from the run and should win again. Form was franked yesterday when the second in that hurdle race won by 14 lengths here yesterday. | WON |
3.40 Curragh | CHERRY BLOSSOM 7/4 | CHERRY BLOSSOM, MY MATE ALFIE, MISSION TO THE MOON and DO IT WITH STYLE is the shortlist. I have to go with CHERRY BLOSSOM for the win, his Group 2 second at York sets the standard but for value MISSION TO THE MOON who won well on soft at Goodwood could well make the frame if handling the step up in grade. | 2nd |
4.00 Newmarket | ZAIN NIGHTS 9/1 | Out and out stayer who has been running well since going up in trip to 2 miles and this extra 2 furlongs should bring further improvement. | 4TH |

3.35 Doncaster | DESERT HERO 11/2 | A better renewal of the St Leger than some armchair experts would have you believe. The winner will come from those within 50 of the top on OSR which takes in the first 5. Which one will handle the conditions best though? My money is on the royal runner DESERT HERO who’s 3 wins have come each time he has encountered going softer than good . | 3RD |
3.42 Musselburgh | WAR DEFENDER 2/1 | Has dropped right down the weights but has seen a revival of form over his last 3 runs and is long overdue a another win. | WON |

2.40 Thirsk | COLORADA DANCER 11/10 | Failed by a nose to win at Sandown on debut, will progress for the run.
3.35 Haydock | SHAQUILLE 11/8 | Superstar. 6 wins in 7 starts including Group 1’s last twice, has a tendency to lose ground at the start by rearing when coming out of the stalls so there is no telling how good he could be if getting off to a level break. | 2nd |
5.45 Kempton | FLYING PANTHER 9/4 | Unlucky in running then finished with a good burst of speed when just failing over course and distance 17 days ago, can go one better with a clear passage. |

6.10 Bath | APACHE STAR 100/30 | Plenty to like about his last 2 runs both over this course and distance backing up his win in July with a decent third place in a better race last time. That level of form should be good enough today. | WON 9/2 |

3.40 Ascot | AUGUSTE RODIN 11/4 | The classic generation take on the older horses. This looks to be a one way street for dual Derby winner AUGUSTE RODIN who qualifies on both the Consensus Method and the 40+ Method and gets a massive pull at the weights for his age allowance. HUKUM, PYLEDRIVER and HAMISH are likely to be the ones to fill the places. | 10th |
4.15 Ascot | ANCIENT WISDOM 9/4 | 2 from 2 and won eased down last time, yard has a good record in this race | 3rd |

1.30 Epsom | ARREST 9/2 | Possibly the most difficult Derby to assess in many a year. MILITARY ORDER is a lay for me only 4 points clear on OSR and not sure to appreciate conditions, THE FOXES clocked up a good LR rating when winning the Dante and had each way claims along with WHITE BIRCH who followed him home. My pin however falls on ARREST who won with a degree of authority at Chester, unlike some so called pundits I have no concerns about the quick going as he won his maiden on Good to Firm. Also check out Epsom Derby – Statistics and Trends– KB | 10th |
3.25 Doncaster | RESOLUTE MAN 6/5 | Failed to build on his debut win when turned over at odds on on reappearance but he should make amends today as that was due to a slow start followed by using up too much of his reserves getting to the lead. A better start today will allow him to dictate the fractions and he will be back in the winners enclosure. | 4th |
3.55 Epsom | MAASAI MARA 11/1 | Progressive and he dug deep to win at Ascot on going softer than ideal, should improve again and he can be competitive again up just 4lb in the handicap. | 4th (s) |

Made her seasonal debut in a Listed event at Bath where despite being outclassed she ran well to take seventh, that run will have freshened her up and she is taking a big drop in class today, can make all from a decent draw. | 3rd |
3.00 Newbury | ROYAL RHYME 13/2 | While both wins have come on soft going, including at Newmarket last time, he was third in a decent handicap at Haydock last month on good going that run puts him in with a each way chance here. | 11th |

2.40 Aintree | RIDERS ON THE STORM 3/1 | Useful chaser who won the Old Roan Chase here on reappearance last month only raised 2lb in the weights and improvement is expected. | 11th |
26th November
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb
12.00 Gowran Park | MINELLA COCOONER 11/10 | Grade 1 winning novice hurdler who was always destined for the Chasing ranks. Can make his debut over fences a winning one. | 2nd |
2.03 Bangor | GWENNIE MAY BOY 9/4 | Wasn’t stopping when winning on hurdle debut last month at the inflated odds of 80/1. Expected to progress for that experience and can carry the 6lb penalty to further glory. | 2nd |
2.15 Gowran Park | PINK IN THE PARK 5/4 | Dual bumper winner who is expected to make a winning start over hurdles. | 2nd |
3.05 Newbury | BUSSELTON 15/2 | Irish raider whose form is going from strength to strength. Won the Kerry National last time and stayed on in a manner that suggested this step up in trip would suit. | 5th |
19th November
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb
12.10 Haydock | SIZING POTTSIE 9/4 | Grade 2 winning chaser who blew away the competition on return to the novice hurdle ranks. Handles soft going and can serve it up to TAMURAS who is unproven on todays ground. | 2ND |
12.30 Punchestown | KILCRUIT 11/10 | Leading bumper horse who failed to fully fire over hurdles. Can get his career back on track now chasing | WON |
12.40 Haydock | POPPA POUTINE 13/2 | Ran in a Grade 3 last time and this is a huge drop in class. Has marathon chaser written all over him and could well be a Welsh National candidate down the line. Will have no trouble with todays conditions expect to see him up with the pace throughout. | 2ND |
3.35 Haydock | HOUSTON TEXAS 100/30 | Has won his last 3 and up in class today, can continue to progress carrying just 10st 5lb. | 6th |
12th November
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb
11.45 Lingfield | CLOCH NUA 7/4 | After going close a few times he has learned how to win and had a bit in hand on both his last runs. This looks a good opportunity to complete the hattrick. | 2nd |
12.55 Naas | PRAIRIE DANCER 9/2 | FIL DOR is respected after finishing second in 3 Grade 1’s behind VAUBAUN last season. He may prove vulnerable though on reappearance and PRAIRIE DANCER is improving with every run comfortably seeing off a good handicap field last time giving 12lb to the second. | 3rd |
2.20 Cheltenham | STOLEN SILVER 11/2 | Ticks a lot of boxes and is the stand out on ratings. Grade 2 handicap winner in April. Grade 3 winner UMBRIGARDO is respected too and is fresh from a couple of spins over hurdles where he won one and was second in the other. | UR |
3.45 Lingfield | BIRD FOR LIFE 13/2 | One a hattrick after winning at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford, still well handicapped on best form. | 4th |
5th November
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb
12.40 Wincanton | WYNN HOUSE 4/1 | Won this race last year off the same mark and off the back of a similar break. Will be primed for a repeat. | WON |
2.11 Aintree | LIFETIME AMBITION 6/1 | From the ratings: SPIRITOFTHEGAMES who is top ranked on 3 of the ratings and ranked fourth on the other deserves utmost respect. Irish raider LIFETIME AMBITION is top 4 ranked on all bar speed and as speed is unlikely to be a factor in this race he must be on the shortlist too. Outside the top 4 ranked on OSR ONE TRUE KING merits extra attention with his top ranked LR rating. My preference is LIFETIME AMBITION as the each way play. | 4th |
2.32 Down Royal | GALVIN 1/1 | Runner up in this last year and solid winning return to action at Punchestown last month, sets the standard. | 4th |
3.00 Wincanton | KNAPPERS HILL 11/5 | Highly progressive and gets 6lb off 3 time winner of this race SCEAU ROYAL. | WON |
22nd October
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb
1.50 Newbury | GREY’S MONUMENT 4/1 | Has been impressive in nursery handicaps since blinkers were applied and is entitled to this step up in grade. Expected to progress again. | 2nd 9/2 |
2.40 Cheltenham | KNIGHT SALUTE 11/4 | Very closely matched with PIED PIPER, they dead heated in a Grade 1 at Aintree and KNIGHT SALUTE was awarded the race. They should fight out the finish again and there is no way that PIED PIPER should be odds on, stick with the value 11/4 in what should be a two horse race is massive. | 2nd 9/2 |
5.55 Chelmsford | BOHEMIAN BREEZE 7/4 | Promising debut when runner up at Leicester, will improve for the run. | 2nd 15/8 |
8.30 Chelmsford | ALWAJD 5/4 | Won her last 2 since being stepped up to around this trip and looked to have plenty in hand last time. Can complete her hattrick. | 2nd |
15th October
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb
1.52 Market Rasen | ONTHEROUGE 13/8 | Front runner who impressed on his bumper debut and followed that up with a creditable second behind a classy favourite in a valuable race at Kelso. Expected to make all on his first start over hurdles. | 2nd |
2.40 Ascot | SEA LA ROSA 13/2 | Very progressive this season with 4 Group race wins to her name from 5 starts cumulating in French Group 1 a fortnight ago. Certain to go well again and should be thereabouts in this competitive race. | 10th |
2.45 Catterick | DANZAN 15/2 | Enjoying a good season winning twice so far including the Ayr Bronze Cup. This sharp 7 furlongs with a bit of cut in the ground should prove ideal conditions for him to add to the tally. | 3rd 16/1 |
2.49 Stratford | LUCKY LOVER BOY 3/1 | Has won 3 of his last 4 since the end of August and has he just does enough in his races the handicapper has not been too harsh. This looks an ideal opportunity to add to that tally. | 2nd |
8th October
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb
1.42 Chepstow | AGE OF SAIL 9/4 | This looks likely to be between the 2 hurdle debutants and AGE OF SAIL is ready preference having a flat rating 8lb higher than TUDDENHAM GREEN. | 2nd |
2.10 Fairyhouse | BROOMFIELD HALL 3/1 | Landed her last 2 hurdle races and that is just a bonus for connections as she has chase mare written all over her. Can complete her hattrick and make a winning debut over fences. | WON |
2.25 Newmarket | EPICETUS 5/2 | Looked a very smart prospect when winning on debut and is sure to come on massively for the run. | 2nd |
3.00 Newmarket | CHALDEAN 3/1 | Progressive and has won his last 3 including Group races at York and Doncaster could make all. | WON |
27th August
Time/Track | Horse | Blurb
2.25 Goodwood | I’M A GAMBLER Today’s Little Earner (Members Only)12/1 | Found plenty at York last month when winning, keeping on well at the finish. Remains of interest off just 4lb higher. ORBAAN who met trouble in running is feared most | WON |
2.30 Curragh | TREASURE TROVE Today’s NAP (Members Only) 13/8 | Listed winner at York last week in a manner that suggested the todays extra furlong will bring out further improvement. | WON |
4.45 Goodwood | PRECISELY 5/2 | Hold up horse who is bidding for a hattrick. Absolutely loves it when there is cut in the ground. Expect her to come late. | WON |
5.05 Cartmel | DEE STAR 9/4 | Runs well here finishing in the first 2 on eight occasions. Will give it another bold bid. | WON |

3.05 | CONTINUOUS 7/4 | St Leger winner who ran well in the Arc and is the one to beat if returning to action in the same form. | 5th |
3.45 | BELIEVING 13/2 | BELIEVING was fourth over 5f in the Kings Stand on Tuesday keeping on well, this extra furlong is her perfect distance. | 4th |

5.40 | OLD FAITHFUL 13/2 | It appears to require a late play with hands and heels, yet it has secured victories in its last two appearances. There’s a good chance of completing the hat-trick. | 12th |

2.30 | HEAVENS GATE 11/1 | While Aidan O’Brien trains the favourite Fairy Godmother I am not convinced that stall 6 is ideal in this race and therefore am taking her on with stablemate HEAVENS GATE who won well at Curragh last month and is cracking each way value | 3RD |
3.05 | GIVEMETHEBEATBOYS 16/1 | Inisherin is without a doubt the one to beat here based on his recent performance at Haydock winning by over 3 lengths. Elite Status also looking like he has put his last 2 poor runs of 2023 behind him too with an impressive win at Newbury recently. That said I think GIVEMETHEBEATBOYS could step up here and he will be my choice.
3.45 | ELMALKA 11/2 | Despite a slow start and trouble in running she emerged off a strong pace to win the 1,000 Guineas, she remains a major player if such form is maintained. | 4TH (S) 7/1 |
4.25 | CRYSTAL BLACK 11/2 | 3 wins in last 4 runs further improvement anticipated over this longer trip. | WON 11/1 |
5.05 | ARISAIG 16/1 | Comfortable winner at Lingfield last time can build on that | 8TH (S) 18/1 |
5.40 | CHIEF LITTLE ROCK 8/1 | Comfortably made all in Curragh Group 3 last time, each way claims up in trip.
6.15 | WOODHAY WONDER 16/1 | 5 wins in last 6 races, not short of speed so the drop to 5f shouldn’t be a problem. | 4TH |
THURSDAY 20TH JUNE
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | ROCK HUNTER 22/1 | Stands a chance if he handles the quicker ground on offer today. | LOST |
3.05 | PONIROS 6/1 | Plenty of unknown factors with a number of runners in this race but Poniros is progressing well and ran a strong race in Newbury so this could be his turn at taking the top place. | LOST |
3.45 | DIAMOND RAIN 13/8 | With Buick on board this smart filly has a strong bid for a third win , on form alone Kalpana and You got to Me look the big threats to her. | LOST |
4.25 | Kyprios 5/4 | Kyprios with Moore on board is the one to beat here, it won’t be an easy task of course but if he carries the form hes shown in his 2 runs this year then he should be hard to beat. | WON |
5.05 | KING’S GAMBLE 22/1 | A huge race with 32 runners at the time of writing. This is a Kingman colt who recently had a 2nd at Doncaster and has a goo d chance of taking a place here if all goes to plan. | 5th |
5.40 | BRACKEN’S LAUGH 13/2 | 5th
6.15 | DIVINE LIBRA 7/1 | A good win at Chester in May showed what this horse is capable of. He’s up by 8lb but with fast ground there could be even more to come from him at this trip. | 6th (S) |
WEDNESDAY 19/06/2024
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | TRULY ENCHANTING 7/1 | In a competitive field where several contenders could emerge, the cautious nod is given to TRULY ENCHANTING. Her victory at Tipperary last month, despite her inexperience, was impressive, and with improved conditions expected, a strong performance is likely from the thriving Aidan O’Brien stable. | LOST |
3.05 | BIRDMAN 5/1 | The O’Brien pair ILLINOIS and HIGHBURY are respected but another Irish raider BIRDMAN gets our vote, unbeaten in 2 start he can add to that tally. | 3rd 13/2 |
3.45 | OCEAN JEWEL 15/2 | This filly appeared much improved when she triumphed in a Group 2 contest at the Curragh last month, finishing with loads to spare, suggesting that further enhancement is likely. LAUREL and ROGUE MILLENIUM are big dangers. | LOST |
4.25 | AUGUST RODIN 15/8 | As a 40+ qualifier the dual Derby winner AUGUSTE RODIN should have the measure of this field only niggle is he is either unbeatable or has an absolute nightmare. | 1st |
5.05 | DUTCH DECOY 20/1 | This horse thrives on racing and this race has been the target for some time, he enjoyed 2 good second places earlier in the campaign and had excuses last twice. Today he gets his going and isn’t drawn too badly. Take as many places as you can Skybet are paying to 8th. | LOST |
5.40 | ADELAISE 16/1 | The Irish contender ADELAISE is favored in this challenging fillies handicap. Having been slightly unfortunate due to limited space before securing fourth place here last year, she triumphed in the Listed Snowdrop Stakes at Kempton this April, narrowly defeating the 100-rated Choisya by a head. This victory indicates that her current mark of 98 is manageable. Given her seeming ability to endure longer distances, a briskly-paced mile may suit her well. With William Buick scheduled to ride, her prospects seem promising. | LOST |
6.15 | GABALDON 12/1 | The American raider showed impressive speed and a positive demeanor, winning his debut at Gulfstream over 5 furlongs on firm ground 39 days ago. This time, he will be equipped with a tongue strap in addition to his blinkers, which is expected to enhance his performance. | 2nd 16/1 |
(S) Skybet paid on the extra places

2.30 | CHARYN 7/2 | On ratings alone this is between CHARYN and AUDIENCE and even though an eye one the market is in order regarding French Raider FACTOR CHEVAL who won a Meydan Group 1 last time my money is going on CHARYN to reverse the placings of the Lochinge clash with AUDIENCE. | WON |
3.05 | CAMILLE PISSARRO 13/2 | Generally a last time out winner lands this race but I am going for the Ballydoyle colt who just failed in a Curragh Group 3 last time after a comfortable maiden win. Yard have won this 10 times previously. | LOST |
3.45 | REGINAL 9/2 | Narrowly lost out in a barging match last time but won a Group 1 at Haydock prior to that, has the speed to go well over this stiff 5f | 2ND |
4.25 | NOTABLE SPEECH 6/5 | 2000 Guineas winner who is 4 from 4 holds main rival ROSALLION on that form even though the latter has gone on to win the Irish equivalent. | LOST |
5.05 | TRITONIC 12/1 | 3rd in this race last year and has been aimed at it again this time 5lb lower in the handicap. | LOST |
5.40 | BOTANICAL 5/1 | Impressive in his last 2 handicaps and that entitles him to an attempt in this better company. | LOST |
6.15 | A PIECE OF HEAVEN 13/2 | Won with a fair bit in hand last twice and can continue to progress after a switch to new yard. | LOST |

1.20 | MONMIRAL 10/1 | Blinkers worked the oracle in the Pertemps final and he is a leading contender again with the headgear retained. | 5th (s) |
1.55 | BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD 10/11 | Runner up in the Dawn Run giving 5lb to the winner, can go one better in this. | WON 6/5 |
2.30 | FORWARD PLAN 13/2 | Progressive type who has won two of his last 3, 4lb rise in the handicap is workable. | 3RD |
3.05 | FLOORING PORTER 7/2 | Travelled well to take second in the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham, placed in this last 2 years, big shout.
4.00 | PANDA BOY 10/1 METTINGOFTHEWATERS 14/1 THE GOFFER 66/1 | Three against the field in this one. PANDA BOY two recent good runs at Leopardstown, should enjoy this marathon trip, MEETINGOFTHEWATERS decent win in December but never really settled in at Cheltenham despite rallying for third, if settling better in this he has every chance, and finally THE GOFFER at massive odds was in touch with the leaders 3 out in the Ultima and the better going here will suit.
5.00 | FOUND A FIFTY 13/8 | No chance with the winner in the Arkle but was clear of the rest and 3rd Il Etait Temps has franked the form by winning this week. | WON 9/4 |
5.35 | MISTER MEGETTE 9/4 | 2/2 in bumpers without breaking sweat, could be a good thing for years to come. |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.45 | CHIANTI CLASSICO 7/2 | Highly progressive and won the Ultima at Cheltenham with ease, main rivel is Kim Muir winner INOTHEWAYURTHINKIN | 4th |
2.20 | MAKING HEADWAY 13/2 | Each way claims for this lightly races 6 year old who has 2 wins since rules debut on October and was a very respectable fourth in the Imperial Cup last time, new trip should see further improvement. | 15th |
2.55 | MYSTICAL POWER 6/4 | 3 from 4 and a clear second in the supreme last time, sets a good standard. | WON |
3.30 | PROTEKTORAT 4/1 | Top 4 on OSR again although PIC D’ORHY qualifies as a lay. CD winner PROTEKTORAT gets my vote ahead of JONBON who is trying a new trip. | 3rd (JON BON Won) |
4.05 | FLEGMATIC 33/1 | Has been running consistently well since return to action in November and 33/1 looks a huge price. Beat Chianti Classico at Kempton in January so how that one performs in the first race will be a big pointer. | PU |
4.40 | THE JUKEBOX MAN 3/1 | 4 lengths ahead and looked to have the Albert Bartlett in the bag when making a mess of the last flight, lost the race in the final strides. | 2nd |
5.15 | EAGLES REIGN 10/1 | Genuine type who has improved out of all recognition since switching to hurdles from the flat, second in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham, should be involved again. | 14th |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.45 | GREY DESTINY 1/1 | Kept on well to win the Turners at Cheltenham and holds GINNY’S DESTINY on that form, IL ETAIT TEMPTS is the probable danger if staying this trip. | 3rd (IL ETAIT TEMPS WON, GINNY’S DESTINY 2ND) |
2.20 | KARGESE 5/2 | Progressive filly who was only beaten by her stable companion at Cheltenham and can go one better here at the expense of the unbeaten SIR GINO. | 2nd (SIR GINO WON) |
2.55 | SHISHKIN | Good race just as a Grade 1 should be top 4 on OSR plus top LR Corbett’s Cross have to be considered. Personally I think GERRI COLOMBE and SHISHKIN will fight out the finish and despite the Henderson yard being under a cloud SHISHKIN is my pick. | 4th (GERI COLOME WON) |
3.30 | LUCCIA 9/1 | Just over 3 lengths behind State Man in the Champion Hurdle despite stable not firing which makes it an even better performance. Is a solid each way alternative to the Irish Raiders. | 4th (The Irish 1st and second) |
4.05 | BENNY’S KING 6/1 | Second in this race last year and has been consistent since the New Year, should be thereabouts again. | 2ND 8/1 |
4.40 | HELTENHAM 15/2 | In great form notching up a pair of wins over 2m 4f, showed plenty of speed in those races suggesting the shorter trip today won’t be a concern. | 8th |
5.15 | BABY KATE 5/2 | Pretty convincing win in the Listed mares bumper at Cheltenham in November, can resume where she left off, HONKY TONK HIGHWAY will give her the most to do. | 11th |
CHELTENHAM 2024
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | STORM HEART 9/2 | Willie Mullins handles the top 3 in the betting and STORM HEART has the scope to improve past stablemate KARGESE with MAJBOROUGH completing his 123. | 5th (MAJBOROUGH WON 6/1, KARGESE 2ND 4/1_ |
2.10 | MAGICAL ZOE 12/1 | Runner up here last year in the Mares Novice’ Hurdle and pretty consistent since will give it a good effort. ZENTA is another with live claims. | 2ND |
2.50 | LECKY WATSON 11/1 | Stays 3 miles and handles the mud, SEARCH FOR GLORY also has each way claims at a price. | 5TH (S) 16/1 |
3.30 | GALOPIN DES CHAMPS 1/1 | GALOPIN DES CHAMPS is the class act and is the selection, FASTORSLOW who has beaten him twice will be there to pick up the pieces if he isn’t on a going day. BRAVEMANSGAME is sure to run another good race if you are looking for a bit of value | WON |
4.10 | TIME LEADER 25/1 | 5 from 7 in Hunter Chases and has won on bottomless ground in the past, each way claims in this slugfest. D’JANGO 50/1 could outrun his odds too. | 3RD 50/1 (DANGO 4TH (S) 66/1 |
4.50 | ALLEGORIE DE VASSY 4/1 | DINOBLUE is sure to be popular but it is stablemate ALLEGORIE DE VASSY for me runner up in this last year can go one better. | 4TH |
5.30 | BETTER DAYS AHEAD 9/1 | Hs run well in his last 3 races and makes handicap debut on what looks a fair mark, stable mates WHATS UP DARLING and YEATS STAR make up the shortlist. | WON |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | GREY DAWNING 5/2 | Easy Grade 2 winner at Warwick last time made it 2 from 4 over fences, the lightly raced FACILE VEGA from that man Mullins is the likeliest danger. | WON |
2.10 | GAOTH CHUIL 15/2 | Has finished in the first 2 on his last 4 starts and is likely to make the frame again. CUTHBERT DIBBLE is a contender too. | PU (CUTHBERT DIBBLE 2ND 11/2) |
2.50 | BANBRIDGE 5/1 | Before even the ratings were calulated I had this down to a match between BANBRIDGE and STAGE STAR and the ratings confirm it. I also think that is the order they will finish in. | 9th |
3.30 | FLOORING PORTER 14/1 | Front runner who won this in 2021 and 2022, still has the scope to get involved and if he slips the field they have to try and catch him. | 2ND |
4.10 | RIAAN 18/1 | Lightly raced chaser who is going the right way definite place claims in this competitive renewal. CREBILLY, LIFE IN THE PARK, WATCH HOUSE CROSS and FIGHTER ALLEN also made the shortlist. | PU (CREBILY 2ND 7/2, LIFE IN THE PARK 4TH 28/1) |
4.50 | BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD 11/8 | Hard to split the unbeaten mares BRIGHTDAYSAHEAD (the selection) and JADE DE GRUGY who have both impressed, the final pick was marginal. | 2ND |
5.30 | WHERE IT ALL BEGAN 7/1 | Staying chaser firmly in the acendency after winning the Punchestown National Trial by 16 lengths and still weighted to get involved again. COOL SURVIVER, AMIRITE, BOWTOGREATNESS AND DAILY PRESENT are other of interest. | 4TH 8/1 |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | BALLYBURN 2/5 | Trounced yesterday’s Supreme winner at Leopardstown by and easy 7 lengths this boy is a shoo-in. | won 1/2 |
2.10 | STAY AWAY FAY 7/2 | Albert Bartlet winner last year and 2 from 3 over fences can out stay FACT TO FILE up the Cheltenham hill. MONTY’S STAR has place claims. | PU (FACT TO FILE 8/13 WON, MONTY’S STAR 13/2 2ND) |
2.50 | GUARD YOUR DREAMS 30/1 | With 11 of the last 12 winners of this race at 9/1 or higher we have the chance of a decent priced winner, while FIRST STREET, BLACK BAMBOO, RAMBO T and SHANBERRY KID all have claims, it is GUARD YOUR DREAMS for me this course winner had 22 months off and has had 2 runs at the minimum trip to prove his fitness to connections, should run a but race now at a more suitable distance off a very fair handicap mark. | 18TH (SHANBILLY KID 12/1 3RD, BLACK MAMBOO 14/1 6th (S) RAMBO T 33/1 8TH (S)) |
3.30 | EL FABIOLO 1/2 | EL FABIOLO stands out in the ratings and JON BON should follow him home with EDWARDSTONE in third. | PU (NR, FELL) |
4.10 | DELTA WORK 9/4 | At time of writing there is still a doubt over whether this race will be run due to waterlogging on the X country course. DELTA WORK who has won the last 2 renewals stands out over MINELA INDO and COKO BEACH who should fill the places. | Race Abandoned |
4.50 | CALICO 25/1 | Another chance at a big priced winner. CALICO rarely runs a bad race and can give it his best shot from the front. SOLNESS also has an each way shout. | 10th (11th) |
5.30 | CANTICO 10/1 | A tricky bumper, its easy Navan scorer CANTICO for me also the pick of Paul Townend which says a lot when the Mullins yard is running 9. Others shortlisted were JALON D’OUDAIRIES, JASMIN DE VAUX, FLEUR AU FUSIL and SIXMILE BRIDGE. | 18th (JASMIN DE VAUX 9/2 WON, JALON D’OUDAIRIES 3/1 3RD) |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | MYSTICAL POWER 7/2 | Willie Mullins runs 5 (keep an eye on his outsiders in the betting, but his pair at the top of the market are sure to go well and my preference is the well bred unbeaten MYSTICAL POWER who is 3 from 3 picking up a Punchestown Grade 2 last time and has scope to improve again. | 2ND |
2.10 | IL ELAIT TEMPS 6/1 | Another Mullins fest with IL ELAIT TEMPS who won a Grade 1 at Leopardstown latest preferred to GAELIC WARRIOR who probably needs further these days, HUNTERS YARN could be the one for the forecast. | 3RD (GAELIC WARRIOR 2/1 Won) |
2.50 | VICTTORINO 16/1 | Dual Ascot Grade 3 winner in November and December, and would have been a lot closer than fourth back there last time but for a couple of tardy jumps and been bumped by a rival. Expected to be in the mix today. CHIANTI CLASSICO is another with each way claims. | PU (CHIANTI CLASSICO 6/1 Won) |
3.30 | STATE MAN 4/11 | With no Constitution Hill and Lossiemouth diverted to the Mares this looks a penalty kick for STATE MAN | WON 2/5 |
4.10 | MARIES ROCK 14/1 | LOSSIEMOUTH will be popular and I wouldn’t put anyone off her but she would have been more suited to 2 miles and is not guaranteed to stay (if she does she wins), plus 4/6 is no value. One that has stamina in spades is the 2022 winner of this race MARIES ROCK she won over 3 miles at Doncaster last time after a year without a win and that will have set her up for another crack at this. | PU (LOSSIEMOUTH 8/13 Won) |
4.50 | EAGLE FANG 16/1 | I have a soft spot for this race after finding the 80/1 winner Jeff Kidder in 2021. EAGLE FANG was Grade 3 placed in December but the bit of form that stands out is his win at Naas last time was in the race that has produced 4 of the last 5 winners and 3 of them won it. | 12th |
5.30 | EMBASSY GARDENS 2/1 | Better chaser than he ever was over hurdles, now 2 from 2 over fences including an easy Grade 3 romp last time, sets a pretty good standard and can give the Mullins team another win. | 2ND |

2.30 | PEARLS AND RUBIES 2/1 | Got up on the line to win over 5 furlongs at Navan and will be suited by this longer trip trainer & jockey have won this 5 times in the last 12 years. At a massive price HOT FUSS is interesting. | 2ND (HOT FUSS 4TH 50/1 |
3.05 | THE ANTARTIC 5/1 | Group 3 winner and placed in Group 1s over 6 furlongs, will be suited by this step up in trip. At bigger odds MYSTERIOUS NIGHT and OLIVIA MARALDA have each way claims. | 13th |
3.40 | SACRED 7/1 | Primed for this after a ready win at Lingfield last time, was a close fifth in this last year. | 2ND 9/1 |
4.20 | FREE WIND 6/5 | With HUKUM out of the race FREE WIND (6 wins from 7 on turf) can take full advantage. CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD is best of the rest. | 5TH |
5.00 | LETHAL LEVI 18/1 | Closely matched with BIELSA on their run at York last time when BIELSA came out on top both should be in the mix again with the 1lb swing at the weights favouring LETHAL LEVI. HURRICANE IVOR looks well handicapped and cant be dismissed either. | 15TH |
5.35 | LION OF WAR 6/1 | CANUTE is respected after the way he improved to win at Navan but Charlie Johnston’s LION OF WAR is the value option and my preference. | 2ND |
6.10 | DAWN RISING 5/2 | Enjoyed a good hurdle campaign last winter and returned to the flat with a decent enough third at Leopardstown, this marathon task should suit him to a tee. RUN FOR OSCAR can take minor honours. | WON (RUN FOR OSCAR 3RD) |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | JABAARA 15/2 | Found plenty in the closing stages to go on and win her race on debut, will progress for the run. PORTA FORTUNE who won a Group 3 last time also made the shortlist. | 11th (PORTA FORTUNA WON 5/1) |
3.05 | NOBLE STYLE 14/1 | Not as clear cut as the betting market would have you believe, yes the top rated LR and OSR LITTLE BIG BEAR has an impressive CV but at this level he is vulnerable. My tentative pick to run well at a price is NOBLE STYLE who has been crying out for firmer going and will be absolutely bouncing on this ground. | 14TH (LITTLE BIG BEAR 2ND) |
3.40 | STAY WELL 40/1 | Return to this trip saw his best run for sometime at Kempton 2 weeks ago and he is way to big a price to ignore in this. HMS PRESIDENT should also go well. | 16TH (HMS PRESIDENT 2ND) |
4.20 | TAHIYRA 8/11 | Class act Irish 1000 Guineas winner, holds MEDITATE on that form but she should be booked for second place again. | WON |
5.00 | CLOUNMACON 14/1 | Went very close at the Curragh last time and stable have had this race in mind for some time. MA BELLE ARTISTE looks on a fair mark for handicap debut and should go well too. | 25TH |
5.35 | KING OF STEEL 11/10 | The Derby Derby form took a book when the sixth Waipro won the Hampton Court. Today it is the turn of the second KING OF STEEL who can confirm superiority over ARREST and ARTISTIC STAR although they could well be a bit closer on this less undulating course. | WON (ARTISTIC STAR 3RD) |
6.10 | RADIO GOO GOO 18/1 | Well drawn front runner 5 from 6 this year all at 6 furlongs but the drop back to 5f is no cause for concern as its his initial speed that wins him his races. FRANKINSENSE is another that should be suited by conditions. | 4TH (FRANKINSENSE 6TH (S) |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | NOCHE MAGICA 9/1 | Impressive on debut at Cork but didn’t quite last home over 6 furlongs when second at the Curragh, drop back in trip makes him a big player. Comfortable Naas winner DEVIOUS also has each way claims. | 14TH |
3.05 | WONDER LEGEND 8/1 | Extreemly progressive colt who won by 5 lengths eased down at Doncaster last time when upped to 1m 2f. Massive hike in the handicap but he can improve again for this extra 2 furlongs. PERFUSE and VALLIANT KING also have each way claims. | 8th (perfuse 5th (s) valliant king 2nd) |
3.40 | BLUE STOCKING 6/1 | AL ASIFAH has been impressive on both her runs and is a worthy favourite but at 8/13 is absolutely no value. BLUE STOCKING was staying on second over 1m 2f last time and this 1m 4f will see her at her best. INFINATE COSMOS should also make the frame. | 3RD |
4.20 | ELDAR ELDAROV 9/2 | I narrowed this down to COLTRAIN and ELDAR ELDAROV and the Group 1 win of ELDAR ELDAROV (2022 St Leger) swung it in his favour. | 7TH (COLTRANE 2ND) |
5.00 | QUANTUM IMPACT 6/1 | Progressive colt who won with a bit in hand at York last time. ROYAL CAPE is probably going to run his race if you atre looking for something at bigger odds it is only the low draw that puts me off. | 13TH (royal cape 6th (s)) |
5.35 | DRUMROLL 6/1 | Beaten by a whisker in a Curragh group 3 last time but awarded the race in the stewards room will progress again on this better going. TORITO is the one for the forecast. | 7TH (torito 4th (s) |
6.10 | SPANISH STAR 33/1 | 2 wins in his last 3 races and put in a career best performance winning at Epsom last time, can improve again and go close at a price, remember to take advantage of the extra places many bookmakers are offering. | 5TH (S) |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | GOT TO LOVE A GREY 9/1 | Strong finisher who has won bother her races to date including a listed event last time. Expected to be on the premises when it matters. | 5TH (S) |
3.05 | FARHH TOO SHY 22/1 | Beat several of these last time on the straight mile here and the is no reason why this strong finisher wont be thereabouts again BELHAVEN who was second that day also made the shortlist. | 6TH (S) |
3.40 | PROSPEROUS VOYAGE 3/1 | The way Ryan Moore is riding JUMBLY has to be high on any list of contenders but I am passing him up in favour of PROSPEROUS VOYAGE who win a good race at Epsom last time and bring Group 1 winning form to the table. | 3RD |
4.20 | LUXEMBOURG 2/1 | This is between the top 3 on OSR but the way Charlie Appleby horses have been running of late I am put off ADAYAR which leaves us LUXEMBOURG and BAY BRIDGE, this pair are closely matched on their recent run in Ireland but LUXEMBOURG on that day and can confirm superiority. | 2ND |
5.00 | DUNUM 14/1 | Plenty in with chances here but my pin landed on DUNUM who is highly progressive and has finished in the first 2 on his last 7 runs including 5 wins. ASTRO KING and AREON POWER also have each way claims. | 24th (AERION POWER 4th 40/1) |
5.35 | CIRCLE OF FIRE 13/2 | I have this down to CHESS PIECE and CIRCLE OF FIRE but at 7/1 the latter is where the value lies. | 4TH (S) (CHESSPIECE 3rd 11/2) |
6.10 | WORLD OF DARCY 14/1 | One of the each way options WORLD OF DARCY won on debut and was second to a classy stablemate last time more to come, BARNWELL BOY has a favourites chance and the well drawn FUSTERLANDIA is another with e/w claims. | 13th |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | MODERN GAMES 9/4 | 5 grade 1 wins on his CV and he holds many of these rivals on his Lochinge win last time. | 4TH |
3.05 | ASADANA 5/2 | Ran away from the field when hosing up by 12 lengths at Ripon on debut. Is a worthy rival to the Irish challenge of RIVER TIBER. | 9TH (River Tiber won) |
3.40 | MANACCAN 5/1 | Progressive type who has won over course and distance can improve again. | NR |
4.20 | CHALDEAN 6/4 | 2000 Guineas winner who looks closely matched with PADDINGTON who won the Irish equivalent, the better draw on CHALDEAN swings it in his favour. | 2ND (Paddington Won) |
5.00 | SOLENT GATEWAY 33/1 | Far too big at 33/1 and cracking each way value only up 2lb after making all at Haydock last time (look out for the bookmakers paying extra places Sky are paying 7). | 9TH |
5.35 | SOLID STONE 20/1 | Group 3 third last time and was placed in this 2 years ago, has good each way claims. | 8TH |
6.10 | RULING DYNASTY 4/1 | Wide margin winner of a novice last time and aimed high on handicap debut but a good run here could see him in pattern company next time and possible the Irish St Leger later in the season. | 14th |
AINTREE 2023
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.45 | JON BON 4/11 | Top class hurdler who has transferred that form to fences only beaten twice in his career, both times at Cheltenham. Difficult to oppose. Calico may be the one for the forecast. | WON |
2.20 | OUTLAW PETER 12/1 | 4 wins this season including his last 2, was unlucky 3 starts back when just failing by the smallest of margins over this trip at Musselburgh. Huge each way player. | 9th |
3.00 | IRISH POINT 13/2 | Grade 3 winner last time and has been placed twice in Grade 1 company including over this trip at Naas in January. | WON |
3.35 | FLOORING PORTER 11/2 | Fourth in the Stayers Hurdle at Cheltenham after an less than ideal preparation but ran well despite that which should have freshened him up for this race. | 3RD |
4.15 | BEAUPORT 6/1 | Was a decent handicap hurdler last term and has taken well to fences. Lost a front shoe mid race before fading quickly at Cheltenham on handicap chase debut. Great e/w claims if bouncing back from that. | Fell |
5.15 | DELTA WORK 9/1 CORACH RAMBLER 10/1 LE MILOS 16/1 GAILLARD DU MESNIL12/1 | With the conditions testing emphasis will be on stamina and all of these four are expected to stay the trip and if keeping out of trouble they all have good each way chances. CORACH RAMBLER is 10lb well in on the revised ratings after his win in the Ultima. GAILLARD DU MESNIL proved his credentials when winning the Amateur Novice chase at the festival, he should be thereabouts but at just 7 years old he may need another year (I said this about NOBLE YEATS last year and got it wrong lol) LE MILOS deserves his place in the line-up after a great season and will be on the premises again. DELTA WORK if forced to make just one pick it would be this boy, third in last years race was better than ever when winning the Cross Country Chase last time. | DELTA WORK UR CORACH RAMBLER WON LE MILOS 10th GAILLARD DU MESNIL 3RD |
6.20 | POUR LES FILLES 6/1 | Pulled clear of the field with the runner up when winning on bumper debut at Leopardstown. Great chance in a competitive race. Also quite probably Davy Russell’s last ever Aintree ride. | 5th |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.45 | GERRI COLOMBE 8/11 | 7 from 8 in races over rules and only just beaten in the Brown Advisory last time, difficult to oppose. | WON |
2.20 | NO ORDINARY JOE 10/1 | Not a lot of miles on the clock but has made the frame 5 times in 8 hurdle runs including 3 wins and second at Cheltenham last time getting caught in the closing stages. Every chance of being involved again. | 7TH (S) |
2.55 | TAHMURAS 14/1 | 3 from 4 over hurdles. Grade 1 winner at Sandown on penultimate start, disappointed in the Supreme but a lot went wrong that day and he can bounce back | 7th |
3.30 | FAKIR D’OUDARIES 2/1 | Very impressive winning the last 2 renewals of this race and his Ascot third last time was better than the bare result suggests. Can bounce back with style on a course he loves. | 2ND |
4.05 | IL RIDOTO 14/1 | Has been running well this season and Wont be far away if handling these fences. | PU |
4.40 | STAY AWAY FAY 9/2 | Took his form to a new level when winning the Albert Bartlet last month and looked to have a little in reserve. Can progress again. | 4TH (S) |
5.15 | COLLINGHAM 40/1 | Has enjoyed a good winter running well at Northern and Sottish tracks winning twice. Unseated last time but can be forgiven that. Each way claims at a big price (look for a book maker paying extra places.) | 7th |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.45 | SAINT ROI 7/2 | STAGE STAR will be popular and is difficult to get away from but I suspect he is better is better on a more undulating track and prefer to look elsewhere. SAINT ROI is an unknown over this trip but after looking outpaced at Cheltenham more of a stamina test could just play to his strengths. | 2ND |
2.20 | ZENTA 5/4 | Grade 3 winner on only her second start over hurdles and a solid third place in the Triumph hurdle, she pretty much sets the standard here. | WON |
2.55 | SHISKIN 2/1 | With BRAVEMANSGAME ruled out now due to an ownership issue SHISKIN is the pick with Conflated as next best. | WON |
3.30 | CONSTITUTION HILL 1/9 | Not a betting race CH should eat this lot up and spit them out, just sit back and enjoy. EPATENTE could will be the one for the forecast | WON |
4.05 | LATENIGHTPASS 5/1 | WINGED LEADER has an incredible record with 8 wins in point to points and hunter chases in his last 9 runs however this is his first try over these big fences and I am passing him over in favour of LATENIGHTPASS who won this last year after a similar preparation and is sure to run well again. | 4TH (S) |
4.40 | GREY DIAMOND 6/1 | Won with a fair bit in hand at Haydock and a 7lb rise shouldn’t prevent him being involved again. | 7th |
5.15 | DYSART ENOS 9/1 | If you have read the eBook ‘The Little Book Of Aintree Grand National Festival Statistics 2023‘ you will know that 4 year olds have a poor record in this race, this rules out JOLIE COEUR ALLEN and JULY FLOWER. Also all of the last 11 winners have run in at least 2 bumpers thus eliminating the favourite SEEYOUINMYDREAMS. In pursuit of a bit of value the each way pick is DYSART ENOS who has won both of the NHF races with a bit in hand. | WON |
CHELTENHAM 2023
Friday 17th March
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | LOSSIEMOUTH 6/4 | Willie Mullins runs the top 4 in the betting market and all have claims but LOSSIEMOUTH the mount of Paul Townend who had a troubled passage when runner up to Gala Marceau can turn round that form. ZENTA could well get a place at decent odds. | WON (ZENTA 3RD 12/1) |
2.10 | PEMBROKE 11/2 | PEMBROKE who is proven in soft and heavy going looks well in on handicap debut, the Skelton yard has a good record in this race. PATH D’OROUX and PINKERON should also run well. | 17th |
2.50 | FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU 10/1 | After a year on the sidelines FAVORI DE CHAMPDOU returned to the track in November and is 3 from 3 improving with every run, huge each way claims here. THREE CARD BRAG could also be involved. | 6th |
3.30 | CONFLATED 18/1 | A wide open Cheltenham Gold Cup. GALOPIN DES CHAMPS who is top on LR, HS and OSR has a favourite chance but the odds are too cramped for my liking, I do however thing the winner will come from the top 6 on OSR. BRAVEMANSGAME has each way claims but given the poor record of King George winners in this race I would be surprised if he wins. AHOY SENOR could sneak a place at a price after a decent course win in January. Stattler is well and truly held by Galopin Des Champs on their last run. Last years winner A Plus Tard pulled up on his only start this season and is passed over because of that interrupted preparation. Which brings us to my pick CONFLATED his Savills Chase win on soft going was excellent and he had plenty more in the tank, further improvement is likely now stepped up in trip. | 3RD 22/1 (GALOPIN DES CHAMPS WON, BRAVEMANSGAME 2ND) |
4.10 | FAMOUS CLEMONT 13/2 | Progressive in point to points and Hunter Chases FAMOUS CLEMONT ticks all the right boxes, SECRET INVESTOR look best of the rest. | 6th |
4.50 | ALGORIE DE VASSEY 15/8 | Very impressive on both her chase starts ALGORIE DE VASSEY will take a lot of stopping. IMPERVIOUS can follow her home. | 2nd (IMPERVIOUS WON) |
5.30 | IROKO 15/2 | IROKO has picked up a pair of Wetherby Handicaps this term and was better than ever on soft going last time. Up 10lb but that shouldn’t stop further improvement. | WON |
Thursday 16th March
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | MIGHTY POTTER 8/11 | MIGHTY POTTER has the class to win this with ease and I would not put anyone off him but he pulled up on his only run at Cheltenham and the confirmation of the track may not suit him. BANBRIDGE despite being well beaten when third behind MP in November does love Cheltenham and is 2 from 2 here and holds strong claims. With BANBRIDGE a non runner by default we are on MIGHTY POTTER | 3rd |
2.10 | THE BOSSES OSCAR 14/1 | THE BOSSES OSCAR holds strong Cheltenham form including second in this race in 2021 off 6lb higher. Travels well on soft going, excellent run at Musselburgh will have set him up for this. HECTOR JAVILEX who won over course and distance on New Years Day is another with strong e/w claims. | 15th |
2.50 | BLUE LORD 6/1 | We are looking at BLUE LORD and SHISHKIN as nothing else even comes. While SHISHIN should win BLUE LORD is the value option and looks a knocking E/W bet. | 8th |
3.30 | HOME BY THE LEE 7/1 | HOME BY THE LEE is progressing well this season, won the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle, and very much enters calculations again. | 5th |
4.10 | MIDNIGHT RIVER 8/1 | Successful over course and distance in January, MIDNIGHT RIVER is open to further improvement and holds strong claims | 11th |
4.50 | YOU WEAR IT WELL 14/1 | YOU WEAR IT WELL is consistent and is getting better with every run and is expected to maintain the progress and run well again. | WON 16/1 |
5.30 | DUNBOYNE 7/1 | DONBOYNE was unlucky at Gowran last time going down by the smallest of margins, is open to further improvement and should go close again. | 4TH 8/1 |
Wednesday 15th March
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | HERMES ALLEN 7/2 | HERMES ALLEN has won with ease on all his 3 hurdle runs which include the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle and the Grade 2 Hyde Hurdle over this course and distance he sets the standard in this race. Impaire Et Passe is respected as is Goodland and Gaelic Warrior. | 5th |
2.10 | GERI COLOMBE 11/8 | GERI COLOMBE is a real winning machine unbeaten in 2 bumpers, 2 hurdles and 3 chases plus a p2p this boy does not know how to lose. Sir Gerhard may struggle at this trip and the likelier danger is The Real Whacker. | 2nd (The Real Whacker WON) |
2.50 | ICARE ALLEN 25/1 | ICARE ALLEN can be forgiven his poor show last time as the ground was too quick. All of his best form as come on soft and he should run a truer race today. FIL DOR is another with each way claims | 17th |
3.30 | EDITOR DU GITE 6/1 | ENERGUMENE is a lay for me. The one I do like and he put up a good performance last time is EDITOR DU GITE he is a tough cookie and he showed it when beating EDWARDSTONE and Energumene in the Clarence House | 5th (Energumene WON) |
4.10 | GALVIN 5/2 | Last years winner Delta Work will be popular for a repeat but I prefer stablemate GALVIN who is making his cross country debut, rated 7lb higher than his rival he can give Davy Russel another festival winner. Dual CD winner BACK ON THE LASH is an each way option. | 2ND |
4.50 | FINAL ORDERS 6/1 | FINAL ODERS has forged clear to win his last 5 chases and there is no reason to think he can’t add this to his CV. At a fair old price A WAVE OF THE SEA (50/1) who was third behind FINAL ORDERS last time could again run into a place (look for those bookies paying down to 7th or 8th) | 5th (Paid e/w on many bookmakers) |
5.30 | ITS FOR ME 6/1 | Willie Mullins likes winning this race and today runs 9, ITS FOR ME won with a lot in hand at Naval and is the choice of Paul Townend so he is my selection. FUN FUN FUN in the same ownership should go close too already a Grade 2 winner she gets 7lb from the boys. | 5th |
Tuesday 14th March
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | IL ET TEMPS 9/2 | Willie Mullins as usual holds the aces and Facile Vega has been installed favourite, however he needs to bounce back from as disappointing run last time when he weaken quickly before the last hurdle. Stable mate IL ET TEMPS took the honours that day and will be on the premises again today to mop up should the favourite not perform and at double the odds is the value option. | 5th |
2.10 | JON BON 13/8 | El Fabiolo is respected after his impressive win in the Irish Arkle but JON BON is high class too only tasting defeat once in his career when second to Constitution Hill in last years Supreme. Expect them to fight out the finish with JON BON getting the upper hand late on. | 2ND (EL FABILIO WON) |
2.50 | OSCAR ELITE 12/1 | Runs well here and was third in this race last year off 1lb lower. Will have no problems with the going. Others with each way claims are The Wolf and Fantasticas. | 5TH (many bookmakers paid e/w) |
3.30 | STATE MAN 100/30 | I would not put anyone off CONSTITUTION HILL and he should win by a mile but 1/3 is not for me so I am prepared to take him on. STATE MAN was impressive in County at the 2022 Festival and 4 from 4 in Grade 1’s since, the latest when accounting for Honeysuckle and Vauban in Irish Champion last month. Looks capable of better still and if there is any chink in CONSTITUTION HILL’S armour he will find it. | 2ND (CONSITUTION HILL WON) |
4.10 | QUEENS BROOK 20/1 | Last years runner up QUEENS BROOK is the value each way option in a quality field, she is capable of making all if the pace is slow or tucking in behind the leaders if they go off too quick either way she will run her race. Honeysuckle deserves the utmost respect and nobody would cheer lounder if she ended her career with a win in this but she is vulnerable. Last years winner Marie’s Rock is unlikely to go down without a fight either and then you have Epatante, Love Envoi and Brandy Love all high class. | 3RD |
4.50 | SIR ALLEN 10/1 | MORNING SOLDIER is the forgotten horse in this race and as he split SIR ALLEN and BYKER at Naas last time there is no reason why he should be available at triple their odds. That pair both have realistic claims too with slight preference for SIR ALLEN (SIR ALLEN is now the selection as MORNING SOLDIER is a non-runner) | 11th (BYKER 2nd) |
5.30 | MAHLER MISSION 13/2 | Gaillard Du Mesnil is respected as he proved his stamina for this trip when finishing third in the Irish Grand National last April but there is no value in his odds and MAHLER MISSION is a progressive type who will handle the conditions. Chemical Energy will likely be thereabouts too under Jamie Codd | Fell when leading (Gailard Du Mesnil won) |
Royal Ascot Previews
Time | Horse | Blurb | |
2.30 | LEGEND OF XANADU 16/1 | I wouldn’t put anyone off backing ALFRED MUNNINGS and is the colt with the most potential however for value I am siding with the experience of LEGEND OF XANADU who is improving with every run and should progress again for this extra furlong.
3.05 | NOBLE TRUTH 4/1 | Has 2 Listed wins on his CV including a resounding 6 length victory at Newmarket last time, looks read now to get that first Group win under his belt. | WON |
3.40 | HURRICANE LANE 5/6 | 6 wins from 8 runs includes the Irish Derby and the St Leger last year. Hard to beat if picking up where he left off.
4.20 | EMARAATY ANA 33/1 | The presence of the Australian raider HOME AFFAIRS has meant that some very good horses are at highly inflated odds. There is no way that Group 1 winner EMARAATY ANA should be this price and he has each way claims.
5.00 | SILVER SAMURAI 13/2 | Mile winner SILVER SAMURAI has impressed over 6 furlongs last twice and still looks well handicapped at the trip despite carrying a 5lb penalty.
5.35 | HONITON 9/2 | A string of placed efforts in decent company before spread-eagling the field at Sandown last week. Looks well treated on handicap debut.
6.10 | TRUESHAN 13/8 | Despite the going being too quick it is hard to look elsewhere. TRUESHAN is a Group 1 performer significantly dropped in grade and class will tell. WORDSWORTH is most likely to make up the forecast. |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | MEDITATE 4/1 | 2/2 ran on well to land a Group 3 last time and is certain to improve again. MAWJ is the obvious danger after an impressing debut win. | WON |
3.05 | GO BEARS GO 9/1 | Did well to take fourth at Haydock last time and has an excellent record here at Ascot, form figures read 121. Has a decent draw today and should be on the premises again. EHRAZ is another expected to run well
3.40 | CONTACT 8/1 | Absolutely thriving at the moment and comes here on the back of wins at Haydock and Newmarket. Up 6lb for that last win but is expected to go well again and maintain the 100% record under jockey Ben Curtis.
4.20 | CATCHET 13/2 | The unbeaten INSPIRAL is respected if she has trained on but she comes here after a lengthy break also both stable and jockey have not been firing on all cylinders this week. CATCHET however is sure to run well having won the 1000 Guineas and was only beaten by a head in the French equivalent.
5.00 | HEREDIA 9/2 | Made it 3 from 3 with a game win last time despite meeting trouble in running. This is just a steppingstone before she moves on to Group races. | WON |
5.35 | CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD 15/8 | Followed up an easy Chester Vase win with a respectable fifth in the Derby. Can get back in the winner’s enclosure today. The lightly raced OTTOMAN FLEET will give our selection the most to do providing he stays this trip | WON |
6.10 | SHAMLAAN 22/1 | Enjoying a good season, needs a strong pace which is assured today. Will be thereabouts at the finish and at decent odds too, be sure to use a bookmaker who is paying those extra places. |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | THE ANTARCTIC 7/2 | Sprint bred in the purple this unbeaten full brother to Bataash can take this in his stride at the expense of impressive York scorer WALBANK. | 4th |
3.05 | ISRAR 7/1 | This is a tricky race where many of the combatants are making their handicap debut. SECRET STATE cannot be dismissed lightly and should go well if handling this trip and quicker going. London Gold Cup winner ISRAR however is bred to stay and the step up to 1m 4f won’t be any worry. He could well be a St Leger contender down the line. | 3rd Secret State won |
3.40 | MAGICAL LAGOON 2/1 | Half-sister to 2013 King George winner novelist. Group 3 winner at 2, just failed in a head bobber at Navan last time. The winner has since been placed in the Irish 100 Guineas and fourth in the Oaks. | WON 11/4 |
4.20 | STRADIVARIUS 11/4 | 3 times winner of this race, fourth last year when racing wide and denied a clear run. Prep race at York went well when he won without breaking sweat. Can outstay the Irish pretender to the throne KYPROIS who will be in unknown territory a long way from home. PRINCESS ZOE should put up a good show again and can make the frame for the second year running. | 3rd Kyprios Won |
5.00 | WHOPUTFIFTYINYOU 6/1 | Made it 4/4 when winning for us at Haydock up a further 10lb in the weights but he can shoulder it in what may be his last handicap before stepping up to Group class. Godolphin saddle KING OF TIME another progressive type who is likely to contest the finish with our selection. | 4th |
5.35 | REACH FOR THE MOON 4/9 | Best chance of the week for The Queen to get a Royal Ascot winner in Jubilee year. | 2nd |
6.10 | TACTICAL 12/1 | Found 6 furlongs too sharp on reappearance but that run will have blown away the cobwebs and he is starting to look well handicapped. Should make the frame but if all goes well he could complete a historic double for Her Majesty. | 6th (Sky bet paid 7 places as standard) |
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | LOVE REIGNS 3/1 | US Raider. Very easy winner on debut at Keenland. Trainer has a good record in the race
3.05 | BALTIC BIRD 10/1 | Unraced at 2 but is progressing nicely this season getting off the mark in a Yarmouth maiden last time, this big step up in class is much tougher but further improvement is on the cards and it would be no surprise to see him involved.
3.40 | SHAHRYAR 7/2 | BAY BRIDGE won at Sandown in a manner that had future Group 1 winner written all over it and he will play a leading role. SHAHRYAR last year’s Japanese Derby winner who landed a big prize in Dubai when last seen, wont mind the drop in trip and is my pick for the race.
4.20 | BASHKIROVA 7/2 | The 5lb penalty may prove too much of a burden for SAFFRON BEACH so I am plumping for the hugely progressive BASHKIROVA who is 4 from 6 and capable of adding to the tally.
5.00 | CRUYFF TURN 28/1 | Very competitive renewal of this race and a chance for getting a big, priced winner. CRYUFF TURN won for us at York last month and despite a career high mark has each way claims again. Expect him to race prominently throughout and give us a run for the money (use a bookmaker that is paying out extra places (Skybet are doing 1/5 for first 8 places).
5.35 | CHATEAU 9/1 | Short of room last time but kept on strongly when the gaps finally appeared to win well enough. Can build on that performance and run well again. Another who is likely to progress is FAR SHOT (I might just do the pair each way).
6.10 | STATE OCCASION 12/1 | Good solid handicap form including second over this course and distance in September. Is sure to be staying on at the finish in a competitive race. |
Tuesday 14th June
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
2.30 | BAAEED 2/11 | 7/7 impossible to oppose | WON 1/6 |
3.05 | BLACKBEARD 3/1 | A fabulous Coventry Stakes in prospect with the unbeaten BLACKBEARD and PERSIAN FORCE lining up. Preference is for BLACKBEARD who brings Group3 form to the race after cantering easily away from a quality field at the Curragh last time. | 4th |
3.40 | WINTER POWER 25/1 | Overseas raiders Natures Strip and Golden Pal deserve respect but neither of them are bombproof. Nunthorpe winner WINTER POWER disappointed at York last time but this quick going will suit and he can bounce back at a massive each way price. | 14th |
4.05 | COROEBUS 8/11 | 2000 Guineas winner has improved with every run and he can continue to thrive. He probably has half a stone in hand on the best of this opposition. | WON10/11 |
5.00 | ARCADIAN SUNRISE 6/1 | A race where jumps bred horses tend to shine this lightly raced 8-year-old is no stranger to staying flat handicap. If it becomes true a stamina test he will not be downing tools at the finish. | 3rd |
5.35 | HARROVIAN 10/1 | Outclassed in top company in Dubai but prior to that the form is solid, dropped in class today and every chance of making the frame. | 3rd 14/1 |
6.10 | STOWELL 13/2 | Course and distance third in last years Queens Vase and looks on a fair mark dropped into handicap company for the first time. | 6th |
Aintree Grand National Festival Previews
Saturday 9th April
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.45 | CHRISTOPHER WOOD 33/1 | Up in trip but likes to bowl along behind the leaders so should be in a good position when the pace hots up.
2.20 | THREE STRIPE LIFE 3/1 | Bridesmaid in his last 3 Grade one races and can go one better in this. North Lodge is best of the rest. Mersey Novices’ Hurdle
3.00 | EDWARDSTONE 4/7 | Hard to oppose Arkle Winner EDWARDSTONE who should extend his winning sequence. Maghull Novices’ Chase
3.35 | FLOORING PORTER 13/8 | Looks like a match between Stayers hurdle 1-2 FLOORING PORTER and THYME HILL. the result should be the same with FLOORING PORTER making all. Liverpool Hurdle
4.15 | TEA CLIPPER 6/1 | SHAN BLUE is tempting back up in trip but TEA CLIPPER ran well for fourth in the Ultima and will be better suited by this course.
5.15 | BURROWS SAINT 25/1 CLOTH CAP 25/1 DINGO DOLLAR 33/1 RUN WILD FRED 16/1 | Ah the Grand National everybody and his dog has an opinion on this race and if you fancy something go with your gut and don’t let my ramblings put you off. BURROWS SAINT fourth last years race traveling strongly throughout, possibly made his move too early. CLOTH CAP was traveling well last year before stumbling 4 from home and pulling up quickly, the trainer reported a breathing problem, the horses around him at the time filled the first 9 home. DINGO DOLLAR front runner that stays for ever, every chance of giving them a run for the money if putting in a clear round. Token Gordon Elliott horse, the mount of Davy Russell Grade 1 placed in December and ran well when second in the National Hunt Challenge Case at Cheltenham. Will be up with the leaders and has every chance if handing these fences.
5.15 | HENRI THE SECOND 6/1 | Listed bumper winner at Ascot and he is likely to set a strong pace, it is up to the others to try and catch him. |
Friday 8th April
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.45 | HIGHWAY ONE O TWO 16/1 | Ran well for second in a listed handicap at Kempton in January. Will be better on this drier ground. Likes to be up with the pace. | PU |
2.20 | JON BON 11/10 | No chance in the Supreme when a distant second to the very exciting Constitution Hill. County hurdle runner up FIRST STREET may find this step up in class too much but has place claims as does AUCUNRISQUE who is progressive over hurdles. Top Novices’ Hurdle 2022 | WON |
2.55 | L’HOMME PRESSE 11/8 | A small but select field line up in this BAVEMANSGAME is respected but my vote goes to L’HOMME PRESSE who travels strongly and is a sound jumper. Mildmay Novices’ Chase 2022 | 3rd |
3.30 | FUNAMBULE SIVOLA 9/1 | FAKIR DOUDAIRIES won this last year and showed a similar level of form when winning the Ascot Chase in February, he is sure to be thereabouts. My preference however is Queen Mother second FUNAMBULE SIVOLA who is cracking each way value and has placed form on this sort of going at this longer trip. Marsh Chase (Melling Chase) | PU |
4.05 | TAMAROC DU MATHAN 20/1 | Won a Grade 2 novices chase last year then lost his way a bit. Showed signs of returning to form when second on unsuitably soft going in the Greatwood at Newbury. Can run a big race off this low weight, tucked in behind the leaders. | PU |
4.40 | BOLD ENDEAVOUR 16/1 | A wide open renewal of the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle BOLD ENDEAVOUR lost his unbeaten tag last time when third at Kelso. He is certain to be suited by this longer trip and should run into a place at least. FAIR FRONTIERS who is likely to make the running may prove difficult to catch and could well hang on and claim a place too. | PU |
5.15 | HACKER DES PLACES 12/1 | Third in the Imperial Cup at Sandown, both of his wins in this country have come under this jockey. Should get the strong pace he craves but if it doesn’t materialise he can also make his own running. | WON |
Thursday 7th April
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.45 | WAR LORD 5/2 | Ran well when fourth in the Arkle last time giving the impression that he was ready for this longer trip. Only horse to tick all the boxes on Manifesto Novices Chase 2022 – One Stop Trends. | 2nd |
2.20 | PIED PIPER 11/10 | PIED PIPER pretty much sets the standard after his third in the Triumph Hurdle BRAZIL is likely to give him most to worry about and PETITE TONRE is the each way value. All 3 fit the Anniversary 4YO Juveniles Hurdle 2022 – One Stop Trends. | Dead Heat 1st demoted to second in stewards room |
2.55 | PROTEKTORAT 3/1 | No chance with the leading pair when 3rd in the Gold Cup but has to be respected back at Aintree where he is 2 from 2. Irish Gold Cup winner CONFLATED who fell when disputing second in the Ryanair and ELDORADO ALLEN can fill the places. All 3 fit the Betway Bowl Chase 2022 – One Stop Trends. | 4th |
3.30 | EPATANTE 2/1 | No horse ticks all the boxes in the Aintree Hurdle 2022 – One Stop Trends but the race looks to be between Champion Hurdle second and third EPATANTE and ZANAHIYR, preference is for EPATANTE who gets 7lb from the younger rival. | WON |
4.05 | MARRACUDJA 18/1 | Talented veteran with a good chase record over the years. Retains plenty of ability and can put up a good show here. | 9th |
4.40 | DOLOS 14/1 | Bounced back to form at Sandown last time and is still 9lb below his best winning mark. BOLD ENOUGH is another who should run well. | 7th |
5.15 | ASHROE DIAMOND 5/1 | Very close fourth in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown last time, when meeting trouble in running. Stayed on well and this extra furlong will suit. | WON |
Cheltenham Festival Previews
Friday 18th March
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | PIED PIPER 3/1 | Beat VAUBAN on hurdle debut and followed that up with a easy victory in the Trial for this race here in January. VAUBAN meanwhile went on to Grade 1 glory at Leopardstown. Marginal choice is PIED PIPER to maintain his superiority in what should be a cracking race. | 3rd |
2.10 | COLONEL MUSTARD 7/1 | Placed in top company behind Sir Gerhard and Jonbon in his last two races, looks chucked in at the weights on handicap debut | 3rd |
2.50 | GINTO 3/1 | On paper we have another match, GINTO and HILLCREST are the pair to concentrate on. GINTO is unbeaten in three starts over hurdles and brings Grade 1 winning form to the table. | PU |
3.30 | A PLUS TARD 7/2 | This is a very competitive renewal of National Hunt racings showpiece. Two former winners line up MINELLA INDO and AL BOUM PHOTO. The best recent form on show belongs to GALVIN and last years runner up A PLUS TARD who finished one two at Leopardstown last time in a thrilling race. I am plumping for A PLUS TARD to reverse that result despite the fact that no winner since Native River has been placed in the race and come back to win the following year. At a bigger price look out for King George winner TORNADO FLYER who was third in last years Ryanair and ROYAL PAGAILLE who will go well if the going doesn’t dry out to. much. Whatever the result it will be a thriller. | WON |
4.10 | BILLAWAY 9/4 | Runner up in this race last twice and pretty much sets the standard. BOB AND CO who was going well when unseating here 12 months ago offers a bit of value for each way thieves. | WON |
4.50 | CONCERTISTA 9/2 | Brings solid Cheltenham form to the table over hurdles and has hit the ground running now Chasing winning both her starts. Can improve past last year’s runner up Elimay and the form choice Mount Ida. | 5th |
5.30 | HOLLOW GAMES 15/2 | Grade 3 winner on only his second start over hurdles and has since acquitted himself well in Grade 1’s finishing third on both occasions. This is his Handicap debut and should be thereabouts if allowed to bowl along behind the leaders. | 3rd |
Thursday 17th March
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | GALOPIN DES CHAMPS 11/10 | This race has cut up badly and only 4 go to post, it is essentially a match between BOB OLINGER and GALOPIN DES CHAMPS who both have winning festival form over hurdles. Both are also 2 from 2 in chases but with after an easy win in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown GALOPIN DES CHAMPS just shades it for me. | Fell Bob Olinger Won |
2.10 | SASSY YET CLASSY 12/1 | Trainer Gordon Elliott has a good record in the race and even though he saddles 6 including the favourite SIRE DU BERLAIS who was second in the stayers hurdle last year, my each way preference is his SASSY YET CLASSY. This mare boasts some good solid form in a variety of conditions and won’t mind what is expected to be drying ground. | BD |
2.50 | ALLAHO 8/13 | Impressive in this last year and was right back to that level of form when winning eased down at Thurles in January. Irish Gold Cup winner CONFLATED is the likeliest one for the forecast. | WON |
3.30 | FLOORING PORTER 4/1 | Front runner. Made all to land this last year. Holds KLASSICAL DREAM on there meeting at Leopardstown in December. The 10 year olds PAISLEY PARK and CHAMP may just be the ones to make up the minor places. | WON |
4.10 | SCHIEHALLION MUNRO 40/1 | No horse has won this race carrying more than 11st 4lb in the last 10 years but if anyone can buck that trend it will be IMPERIAL ALCAZAR. I however prefer something carrying less of a burden especially in what could well be sticky ground and as big priced winners are not unknown my shortlist is FANCY FOUNDATIONS, BORN BY THE SEA and SCHIEHALLION MUNRO. | 8th |
4.50 | BRANDY LOVE 5/1 | Willie Mullins has taken 5 of the 6 runnings of this race and not always with the obvious choice, he is going for it again fielding 7 of the 22 runners. I am put off the favourite DINOBLUE by her lack of experience even though she won easily on her sole start. BRANDY LOVE however won’t be phased by this big field as she won her maiden in a 24 runner event. At bigger odds HAIA could well improve again and make the frame under Racheal Blackmore. | NR |
5.30 | MISTER FOGPATCHES 8/1 | Extremely consistent chaser who rarely runs a bad race, has made the frame in 5 of his last 6 races including the Betfair Chase on the Old Course here in December. | 6th (Skybet paid the place) |
Wednesday 16th March
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | SIR GERHARD 8/11 | Nigh on impossible to oppose, last years Champion Bumper winner is 2 from 2 over hurdles, only negative is his age as the last 10 winners have been 5 or 6 this boy is 7. | WON |
2.10 | AHOY SENOR 7/1 | Unbeaten chasers BRAVEMANS GAME and L’HOMME PRESSE have to be respected. The value however lies with AHOY SENOR who is improving with every chase run and is better now than 2 starts back when second to BRAVEMANS GAME, he also beat that rival over hurdles at Aintree last April. DUSART is capable of a good run at a lofty price. | 2nd L’HOMME PRESSE Won |
2.50 | GRAND ROI 22/1 | Gordon Elliott saddles 7 here including the favourite SAINT FELICIEN. My preference however is GRAND ROI the mount of Davy Russell, he was aimed at this race last year going off favourite but nothing went right, he is well worth a chance again. Willie Mullin’s MAZE RUNNER is interesting dropping back in trip after struggling over further. | PU |
3.30 | SHISHKIN 5/6 | Last years Arkle winner. Holds ENERGUMINE on their run in the Clarence house. NUBE NEGRA who was runner up in this 12 months ago and has since won over course and distance could well make the frame again. | PU ENERGUMINE Won |
4.10 | SHADY OPERATOR 11/1 | Trained by Cross Country specialist Enda Bolger this 9 year old has done well so far in this sphere with 2 wins and a second at Punchestown. DELTA WORK who has lost his way a bit since winning the 2020 Irish Gold Cup makes his X-country debut and could just begin a new chapter. DIESEL D’ALLIER is becoming a course and distance specialist in lesser events, he may just make the frame here. | 8th DELTA WORK Won |
4.50 | THYME WHITE 12/1 | Highly progressive first season chaser who easily saw off the opposition at Doncaster last time, can improve again. Consistent 2 miler ANDY DUFRESNE should make is presence felt if coping with his lofty handicap mark on handicap debut. DANCING ON MY OWN also has each way claims if he is on his A game. | NR Andy Dufresne 2nd |
5.30 | REDEMPTION DAY 13/2 | Willie Mullins has landed 5 of the last 10 renewals of this and not always with the obvious choice, he runs 7 today including the favourite FACILE VEGA. REDEMPTION DAY however totally destroyed the opposition on debut last time with his jockey not even having to find top gear. He is sure to progress from that run and has a big future. | 13th FACILE VEGA Won |
Tuesday 15th March
Time | Horse | Blurb | Result |
1.30 | DYSART DYNAMO 9/4 | Willie Mullins (5) and Nicky Henderson (2) have been responsible for 7 of the last 10 winners. The Henderson pair running today JON BON and CONSITUTION HILL come into the race unbeaten over hurdles and merit respect. Mullins who saddles 3 knows exactly what it takes to win this event and his unbeaten DYSART DYNAMO has been simply amazing improving with every run, expect him to jump off in front and get an unassailable lead fending off all comers up the Cheltenham Hill. | Fell Constitution Hill Won Jon Bon 2nd |
2.10 | RIVIERE D’ETEL 4/1 | Three on the shortlist for this, the classy EDWARDSTONE who is 4/6 over fences winning all his completed starts. BLUE LORD WHO IS 3/3 in chases and RIVIERE D’ETEL who boasts 3 wins and 2 seconds over fences. RIVIERE D’ETEL was desperately unlucky last time when runner up to BLUE LORD and can make full use of her mares allowance reverse those placing today. | 5th Edwardsone Won Blue Lord 3rd |
2.50 | RAPPER 40/1 | Festival handicaps are always a chance to bag a big priced winner and they go 8/1 the field in this one. The improving KILTEALY BRIGGS has place chances if staying this longer trip. My preference though is for RAPPER who has had just 4 runs over fences winning 2 of them. Up in class today but gets into the race off a low weight. | 18th |
3.30 | HONEYSUCKLE 8/11 | Superstar mare who landed this last year and is now 14 from 14 over hurdles, never got out of second gear when winning the Irish Champion easily at Leopardstown last time. 2020 winner EPATANTE has had a better preparation than when third last year and could make the places at a big price. | WON Epatante 2nd for a nice forecast |
4.10 | STORMY IRELAND 5/1 | A wide open Mares Hurdle, Punchestown 1/2 BURNING VICTORY and QUEENS BROOK will run their race again. My preference however is for the front running STORMY IRELAND who is in the form of her life and kept on really well to land the Relkeel Hurdle here on New Years Day. | 4th |
4.50 | FEIGH 80/1 | An 80/1 shot won this last year, tipped up by yours truly in a pervious life. GAELIC WARRIOR is a good horse who will win some decent prizes but at 5/2 is absolutely no value. FEIGH was fourth last time 17 lengths behind BRAZIL as FEIGH is running off a mark 11lb lower than that rival today he is sure to be a lot closer and is my tentative choice for the race. Gordon Elliott who know how to land these big handicaps saddles 5 of them I would say EBASARI and BRITZKA have the best chances of making the frame. | 18th Brazil Won Gaelic Warrior 2nd |
5.30 | RUN WILD FRED 7/4 | In great form and has top amateur Jamie Codd doing the steering. Stays all day and was runner up in last years Irish Grand National. Best of the rest is probably STATLER. | 2nd Statler Won |
